Admissions Policy
All Kindergarten - 8th Students who are residents of Oregon are welcome at WLE.We have students who choose to come to school every day; students who travel for family, work, or sports and cannot come to school every day; and students who are unable to attend school in person. We are not a traditional school with a traditional school schedule. We can meet whatever needs a student and their family might have. (Coquille School District does have a separate program for Adaptive Life Skills Students.) We issue Chromebooks to students who learn from home; students who attend in person will access computers within their classrooms.
Students who are attending Lincoln School of Early Learning, Coquille Valley Elementary, or Coquille Junior Senior High School that wish to transfer to WLE must follow the process outlined here: Contact Julie Simpson at the District Office with the transfer request. The District Office will reach out to both principals who will determine if a transfer is in the best interest of the student. The District Office will contact the student's adults with the decision. Adults who do not agree with the decision may appeal to the Superintendent.
Students residing in other Oregon School Districts must obtain an Interdistrict Transfer (IDT) from the student’s home District. The IDT process begins with the student’s current school District Office. Transportation for IDT students is the responsibility of the student and their parent/guardian. Per Coquille District Board Policy JECB: “The district is not required to provide transportation outside the boundaries of the district. The student will be allowed to use existing bus routes and transportation services of the district.”
